Answering Questionnaires

Questionnaires give you the opportunity to communicate directly with the writer creating your placement.

It’s important to think about the answers you give. While good spelling and grammar are helpful, it’s just as important to focus on the content of your answers.

The quotes and commentary you provide through questionnaires can lead to powerful messaging, so don’t be afraid to express yourself!

How to answer a questionnaire

Once a placement is secured, you will be able to log into your account and click its “answer questionnaire” button (highlighted below).

Clicking the answer questionnaire button will reveal a popup window with questions for you to answer.

You submit your answers one of three ways:

  1. Directly in the answer fields provided
  2. Via a Google doc (or another link such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc)
  3. As a file (.docx, .pdf, etc.)

Answer length

Here are some guidelines for the appropriate answer length. While these suggestions are meant to help with answering questions, they are by no means requirements.

Interview

Interview questionnaires are typically between 8 and 15 questions

A good range for answer length is between 800-1500 words (total, across all questions).

Features

Feature questionnaires are typically between 4 and 7 questions.

Your answers for these questionnaires may be as long as you’d like, but be aware that it’s rare for writers to incorporate any more than 700 or 800 words worth of direct quotations.

This doesn’t mean that extra insight you provide won’t be discussed in the writer’s finished articles, of course!

Feel free to make your answers detailed, but if there is a specific portion of your answers that you’d like quoted directly, make this clear to your publicist!

Mentions

Mention questionnaires are typically no longer than 3 questions

It’s unnecessary to make your answers for each question longer than a sentence or two!
