O Visa Processing Time

By Tiara

Recent reports of long visa processing times are too much for many people. Many people have complained about how long it takes to process VISA applications at the US Embassy or Consulate in foreign countries.

Some say that there is no way to apply online, so you must visit the embassy in person. This isn’t very convenient since most people live far away from the embassies.

Others claim that their application was not processed in time due to “Visa line-up” which means other applicants were waiting behind them.

We will talk more about what can be done if your appointment has been canceled or rescheduled later! But for now, let's discuss why this is such a big deal and some ways to help you with your VISA!

Why does it matter?

It may seem trivial to some but having an expired passport can really pose a problem when traveling internationally. If you know anything about passports, you know that they expire and need to be replaced. An unexpired passport is one of the main pieces of proof that you exist as who you said you are.

If someone cannot verify your identity because of an expired passport, it is hard to establish true credentials - something that we all take for granted every day. For example, if you go to a movie using your friend's ticket, they could tell that you do not belong there because of his/her missing picture identification.

How long does it take to process my visa?

It is very important to understand that your visa status can be verified at any time, even by someone else’s organization.

For this reason, it is crucial for you to keep track of when your visa was last stamped or re-stamped so you are not left waiting in limbo while everyone around you knows what happens next.

This article will talk about how much time it takes VISA to process documents and what you can do if you run out of time.

My visa is delayed, what should I do?

The next thing you will want to do is determine if your visit has been canceled or not! If it has, that is great news as you can re-schedule or start planning for your return home early!

If however, they tell you that their system failed to process your documents in time and so they cannot proceed with the review, then you have some decisions ahead of you.

You can choose to stay in Canada longer than planned, you can apply for another type of visa (like C Visa) or you can decide to go back home. All of these things depend on your plans and what kind of life you plan to lead after coming here.

We suggest staying one week past your current visa expiration date to see if there are any issues. After this, we recommend looking into applying for residency status or international employment visas. Both take much more paperwork and time, but could give you enough time to prepare before going back home.

Am I able to extend my visa?

After your application is accepted, you have 30 days to begin processing of your VISA! This can seem like an eternity when you are waiting for it to be approved or rejected, but remember that there is no way to know if your application was successful until this time has passed.

It is very common after receiving word that their applications were received that people start to worry about whether or not they will receive any notification. They may even wonder what happens next!

At this stage, we cannot tell if your visa has been processed or not, so it is best to just relax and wait. We recommend staying in touch with friends and family back home to help you feel relaxed and supported during this process.

We also suggest keeping up-to-date on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to see what information others have posted about their experiences.

What are my options for a new visa?

Finding out what visas you can apply for and how to do so is dependent on two things: your immigration status and country of residence, as well as your availability to be interviewed for a given visa.

If you’re an established resident with no travel plans in the next six months, then applying for a longer-term visa like those mentioned above may not make sense. You could also consider staying in Canada longer if it makes financial or family commitments more feasible.

For other international students, learning about their visa processing times and alternatives can help ensure you don’t overstay your welcome. It’s important to know that most migrants have to leave Canada within a certain time frame, but there are ways to extend this if needed.

Depending on when you found out your visa was running out and whether you want to remain in Canada, we suggest talking to a lawyer or immigrant advocate about your choices. They can tell you which types of visa renewals are possible and where you stand legally depending on how long ago you realized your visa had run out.

Do I need a letter of invitation?

One thing that can be tricky is whether or not you need a formal invite to apply for VISA in Canada. This depends largely on how well-connected you are with other members of your tour group, as well as Canadian friends or colleagues you’ve made while studying here!

If you’re traveling alone, then probably yes – it’s better to over prepare than get stuck at an airport without proof of accommodation. But if you’re part of a larger group, chances are someone will have already arranged this for you.

And even if they haven’t, there’s always online tools like Airbnb where people usually list their homes so guests can find one quickly and easily.

What if my invitation doesn’t have my date of travel?

Even though it is not your responsibility to confirm that you are approved for VISA before traveling, it is important to be aware of how long it can take to process!

It is totally normal to worry about whether or not you will get to go on this trip because you don’t know when you will find out if you are approved.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to help reduce the stress caused by visa delays.

First, make sure to check with all of your invitees what country they will be entering in Canada. This way, you can inform them of any potential issues related to visas and they can prepare accordingly.

Second, stay up-to-date on any announcements related to visa processing times so you are not surprised when you find out you need to wait overnight for answers.

What if my invitation doesn’t have my return date?

If you don’t have your return ticket yet, there is something you can do! You can add yourself to our waitlist here at MyTravelMate. This will put you in line for an invite once one becomes available.

You never know when someone may drop out or need extra time to prepare, so this makes sense as a backup plan.

Am I able to submit my invitation?

o visa processing time

After submitting your invite, you will be redirected to an “Accept Invite” page. Here, you can check whether or not your invite has been accepted. If it has, then great! You can now move onto the next step which is creating an account for the event!

If however, you do not find out that your invite was accepted until hours later, this could potentially put you in a tough spot.

This means that even if you have submitted your invite several times before, you would need to create an Eventbrite user profile to accept guests. This happens due to the way that Eventbrite works so make sure you are logged into that before accepting anyone as a guest.

It should also be noted that while most people use their full name when registering with Eventbrite, some companies may require only their first initial instead.
