One thing that’s incredibly hard about marketing is getting people actually to notice your product. Getting noticed is one of the most important things in marketing since it gives you a real chance of success.
I asked on Twitter recently how to get people to notice your product, and there are a few of the answers that surprised me. There are also a lot of great things about those responses.
So, here’s what the best answers to this problem look like.
Read their emails
One of the best and most important things you can do is read the emails that influencers send out. That’s because a lot of them really want to hear from you.
You can get email addresses through guest blogging or other paid methods. Still, if you have a good relationship with an influencer or know someone who has a good relationship with them, they’ll pass your emails on to the influencer themselves.
Some of the things they’ll tell you, to prepare for them being interested in hearing from you, include:
- How the email is formatted
- The length of the message
- If you need a reply before they read it
- If they’ll receive an acknowledgment for the email
- If they’re going to promote the email they received
Some of the most popular ways to get people to notice your product are to:
- Get reviews from other customers.
- Use sponsored posts (PPC, Instagram ads, Facebook ads)
- Promote your product on social media
- Some of the most popular ways to get influencers to notice your product are to:
- Ask influencers to write a piece of content.
- Write a piece of content and send it to the influencer.
- Write a piece of content and make it so the influencer can share it with their audience.
- Research influencers for your product and go with the one who likes your product the most.
Do you need influencers for your product? I hope so. Most businesses need influencers to succeed. With the right marketing approach, you can find them.
Make an MVP for influencers.
An MVP is just a project to test whether people will buy your product. It’s a simple piece of code or a proof of concept to show that you can ship something people will want.
That’s why you need an MVP. If you’re able to show people an MVP, they’ll be able to start paying attention to your product, but you won’t have to spend a ton of money to get it to them.
You’ll have to go to great lengths to get these users, though.
It’s not going to be easy. You’ll have to build tons of signups or upsells in a short amount of time.
But you can do it.
There’s no magic system to finding influencers, but I’ll share some of the things I’ve done.
- I’ve found influencers on Instagram, YouTube, and social media.
- I’ve emailed influencers on LinkedIn.
- I’ve emailed influencers on Twitter.
You can use tools to find influencers on social media. For example, you can use this tool to find your influencers.
But to find influencers on YouTube, I suggest checking out SocialCode, which has a cool system that lets you search for influencers that have uploaded content on your channel.
You’ll have to set up an ad campaign to target influencers, but you can pay for these campaigns through the influencer platform, which I’ll explain in a moment.
I learned this from the world’s most successful entrepreneur, Tony Robbins. He said, “You are always at the top of the list and never the last.”
I’m not a big believer in talking to many strangers in a bar to figure out which clients I should pursue. The answer will come from people you know, who will tell you about things they like.
If you know many great businesses, it’s going to be easy for them to tell you about good products. For example, I know a lot of good entrepreneurs who have great businesses.
I’m going to reach out to each of them and tell them I’d like to see them mention my product on their website or social media channels.
If your business is successful enough that customers come to you, they’ll find you.
I have one of the most successful products on the market, and it’s because I didn’t spend a lot of money on advertising. I did a handful of outreach emails.
I tried a few YouTube videos and a social media campaign. And I got the email list from those social media channels, which is where I started building my email list.
Now you have a bunch of customers who like what you do. And you can start targeting them in a very economical way.
Turning a list of people who have emailed you in the past into an email list will be a lot easier for you if you sign up for an influencer platform like JotForm.com. They have a great process where you can collect email addresses for your email list.
Once you have a list, you can run a list expansion email campaign. This is an email campaign targeted at influencers.
For example, if you know many influencers, you can contact them and ask them to tell you about your product.
It’s much easier to build an email list of people who have already shown interest in your product than to chase potential customers.
Once you have a list, you can start making sales to the people on your list.
You can do a listed building.
Or you can do a list expansion email campaign.
I’ve done both.
In a list build, you ask people who are already interested in your product to sign up.
You use their email addresses to start a list and build out a sales funnel.
I’ve done this a few times, and it’s worked for me. I had a lot of prospects go to zero because the products I had weren’t exciting enough.
So I hired someone who knows a lot about their category, and they went to work on developing the new product.
I saw a spike in sales when that happened. I’ve also done this for blog subscribers.
You can also email your list if you’ve got a blog that has a decent amount of subscribers.
But you should never email out this list to get people to sign up. That’s spam.
This email list is specifically for people who are already interested in your product.
Once you’ve got a list, it’s time to expand your sales funnel and start making sales.
You can do this in two ways:
- You can run a list expansion email campaign.
- You can do an email list building.
I’ve done both of these a bunch of times, and it’s worked for me. The idea of this strategy is to pick a few people on your list who would make great leads.
