Born in Valencia, Spain, in 1924 to parents of Spanish heritage, Vicente Fernández is considered one of the most influential singers in Latin music history. He was known for his ability to add flavor to any song he sang, making it his own by adding catchy melodies and rhythms.

His singing style has been described as “spanglified” or mixed-Spanish (because some lyrics are not totally understood unless you know how to speak Spanish). His powerful voice resonated with many listeners who felt he articulated their innermost feelings.

He is also well respected outside of South America for his global success. Many consider him to be among the greatest living singer–songwriters!
