Social media is an integral part of our daily lives, with people creating accounts to share experiences, talk about things they are passionate about, and connect with others. Companies use social media as a tool for marketing themselves or their products!
Trey Guida used his account to discuss how to improve your self-confidence and why it’s important to like yourself. He also mentioned some ways to motivate yourself and give you inspiration, making it more accessible to anyone.
But what if I told you that someone had made this content free just so they could make money? It would be very hard to trust such a person after reading this article, unless you really trusted them already.
A few years back, there were not too many people who knew about or could recognize the name Tay K. Now she is known as one of the most famous YouTubers in the world!
Her channel has over 1 million followers and her videos have received millions of views. She features herself and others in fun challenges that test their acting skills and/or knowledge of new songs.
She’s also very candid when it comes to discussing issues such as gender equality and body positivity. Her style is described as “relatable and down-to-earth.”
What made her success possible was posting early videos featuring her singing and dancing. Since then, she has mostly left those types of content out of her repertoire.
However, she does sometimes include some performance pieces here and there. What makes her different from other youtubers is how interactive her videos are.
Participants can comment and like her posts and material, which helps promote her channel and community. On top of all this, she actively engages with her audience, responding to comments and questions.
As we know, social media is an integral part of our daily lives now. Sites like Instagram have grown to be massive, with people creating million-viewing videos all of the time!
TikTok is another site that has exploded in popularity over the past few years. It’s not too well known, but it’s definitely worth looking into if you want to see what the hype is about.
Most people are familiar with the app as a place where users can make short songs and/or dances called “tapes.” These tapes usually focus on popular songs or dance moves so most people get creative with their choices.
Some people take these ideas seriously and actually earn money from taping and then sharing their work online. Others just enjoy making fun of themselves and getting reactions!
For anyone who isn’t quite sure how things work on the platform, there is one thing almost everyone does at some point. The “challenge”. A challenge is when someone uploads a tape and calls out someone else for trying to do something similar without going full song and dancer. In other words, they made a parody.
This sometimes leads to more creativity and challenges being accepted, which eventually lead to people finding out about each other and meeting up. This is what happened with Taylor Swift‘s famous feud with the rapper named TayK.
In early February of this year, social media user Tay K received widespread attention for her funny videos. Her followers grew quickly as she posted mostly lip-sync songs with lyrics that made fun of other people or themselves.
Her popularity even led to appearances on TV! She appeared as a guest on The Talk in March where she performed her famous “Bitch I’m On A Boat” song. You may have also seen her singing it during the finale of Lip Sync Battle in May.
What many don’t know is how she got here – her meteoric rise to fame was due almost entirely to something called a digital tikTok.
A quick primer: tikTokes are short (1–2 minute) video clips that contain either music or an easy conversation. They were first popularized back in 2012 when Chinese artist Liyuan Liu created one titled ‘Ouaiwu’ (愿晓咕语). Since then, they've become very common and most online users create their own at least once a week.
People who make them upload them onto app specific tikToks or distribute them through third party apps like Tik Tok Pro or Mixi. It's really up to you which one you use since each has its pros and cons.
But the important thing about tikToks is that anyone can easily contribute content to them.
